Gyuri Mun is an accomplished flautist whose dedication to music is matched only by her warm and professional demeanour. With a passion for both her instrument and the art of teaching, Gyuri prioritises the growth and well-being of her students above all else. Outside of her musical pursuits, she finds solace in the simple pleasures of life, often enjoying a quiet moment with a cup of tea.
Her musical journey began at the age of 11, leading her to pursue a Bachelor of Music and Honours under the tutelage of Dr. Luca Manghi at the esteemed University of Waikato, graduating in 2022. Throughout her education, Gyuri showcased her talent with notable performances, including appearances with the New Zealand Youth Symphonic Winds, North Shore Youth Wind Band, and featured recitals in prestigious venues such as the LunchTime Concert Series at Waikato University, St. Andrew’s Church Christmas Service, and St. Anglican Church Easter Concert.
Driven by a desire to share her love of music with others, Gyuri often takes to the streets, enchanting passersby with impromptu performances on her flute. Her dedication to education has seen her serve as a respected teacher at institutions such as the Papakura Music School, St. Mary’s College, Baradene College of Sacred Heart, and Dilworth Boarding School. Currently, Gyuri imparts her knowledge and passion for the flute to students at Pukekohe High School and the Howick School of Music, catering to a diverse range of ages and skill levels.
Whether guiding beginners or refining the talents of advanced players, Gyuri's teaching approach is marked by encouragement, patience, and a commitment to fostering growth in her students. With her guidance, aspiring musicians can be assured of not only honing their skills but also discovering the joy and fulfilment that music brings.
