Blockhouse Bay School of Music is a community-based private music school in Auckland, focused on long-term, one-on-one music education for children and teens. We believe in music for life, not just exams, building solid technique, confidence and a genuine love for music through patient, thoughtful teaching.
Our vision is to be a trusted benchmark music school for local families: professional and well-organised, but warm, friendly and easy to talk to.
Who we’re looking for
We’re always happy to hear from tutors who:
Are formally trained musicians (tertiary-level music qualification, or close to completing one)
Care about children, teens and families, not just about playing well
Believe in healthy technique, long-term learning and balanced use of exams
Are reliable, organised and keen to be part of a supportive teaching team
Enjoy helping students perform – from small studio concerts to larger showcase events
We welcome expressions of interest for instruments such as piano, strings, guitar, ukulele, voice, woodwinds, theory and aural, as well as specialist areas like chamber music and accompaniment.
