Jack Chen

Jack believes that every student is unique, and he focuses on individualised piano teaching that makes lessons engaging, creative, and enjoyable. Originally from Shanghai, he began studying piano at the age of three and has since developed a deep passion for both performance and teaching.
He studied with Katherine Austin, Dr. Rae de Lisle, earning a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Waikato and a Bachelor of Music (Honours) from the University of Auckland.
As a prize-winning pianist and dedicated educator, Jack has received awards including the G.E. Fairburn Chamber Music Prize (2024) and the Norah Howell Accompanying Scholarship (2021). He also holds an ONZA Orff Approach Certificate (2022).
With extensive experience in piano and theory exam preparation, Jack is known for his patience, encouragement, and ability to inspire each student to reach their full potential.
