Matthew Terry

Matthew Terry is a passionate, seasoned classical singer and stage performer focused on opera at 23. Based in Auckland, Matthew began his musical and vocal journey as a young boy with the Auckland Boys Choir, performing across Auckland and parts of wider New Zealand. From there, he continued his practical musical studies through staged productions in high school at St. Peter’s College, earning several lead roles until he studied classical music and opera singing at the New Zealand School of Music in Wellington. Matthew continued performing in many concerts and in small- and large-scale operas with the likes of Days Bay Opera, Wellington Opera, and New Zealand Opera. 

Matthew is an avid learner, always hungry for more, and enjoys nothing more than indulging in musicianship and the simple joy of singing, hoping to share that joy and pass on what he has learnt to the next generation of singers, young and old. He believes everyone has a musical bone that just needs the right tutelage from a caring, excited teacher who clicks with their students, and he strives to be that dedicated teacher, guiding his students to be the best they can be.
